The Evolutionary Anthropology and Genetics Laboratory (EAGL) focuses on both teaching and research on contemporary human DNA and commensal organisms, such as domesticated plants and animals.
Driven by questions of anthropological importance, it is an interdisciplinary laboratory for undergraduate and graduate students to learn about molecular anthropology and molecular biology/ genetics laboratory techniques. It is equipped with standard PCR and real-time qPCR (Quant Studio 3) thermocyclers, as well as PCR product visualization and DNA quantification materials and equipment.

Focused on ancient/archaeological and environmental DNA, the Archaeogenetics Laboratory is a restricted personnel laboratory (graduate students and collaborators) at the Department of Anthropology. In its cleaned room, we explore questions about human origins, evolution and adaptation, as well as interaction and co-existence with other species. The clean room follow strict protocols for its operation, envolving an isolated gowning area, full body PPE, a room-wide UV-light system and controlled air filtration.
